Mother’s Day Gift Ideas (from a tired mom)

I recently heard this piece of advice from a podcast about how to choose a “good” Mother’s Day gift that resonated with me:

Something that she wasn’t going to get herself already, and also doesn’t add to her mental load.

Here are my ideas, with the bonus that they are all women-owned Canadian businesses!

🙆‍♀️ a box of cute macarons or other desserts she wouldn’t normally get and can enjoy alone (not for the kids!)

🙆‍♀️ a handmade keepsake that reminds her of the precious moments even when motherhood doesn’t look picture-perfect day to day

🙆‍♀️ baby clothes (not from a big box store!) that remind an expecting mom of her hometown (alternatively I love gifting Toronto clothes to my friends who live in other countries!)

🙆‍♀️ a DIY kit you prepped with her in mind, because moms deserve to have their own downtime and hobbies too.

For example if you know she’s been wanting to try a hobby like embroidery, you can get a pattern and also source all the thread colours, hoops, fabric, needles, etc. so she can jump in right away whenever she has a little bit of downtime.

(not biased at all 😉 but really, a friend did this for me and that’s how I started embroidery years ago!)
